What is command prompt, cmd.exe and cmd anyway?
Command prompt (also called cmd or cmd.exe) is a built-in command interpreter in Windows systems. It is officially called Windows Command Processor. Since most of Windows is GUI (graphical user interface, means that you use it buy clicking icons, not typing commands into a black box), command prompt commands are fewer now. You can't install software with command prompt anymore, like Ubuntu or UNIX systems. It remains as useful as ever though, it can run batch & cmd files (.bat & .cmd respectively) and useful commands. Let's get started!
How to open command prompt:
Step 1: Hit Ctrl + R on your keyboard, a "Run" window will (almost instantaneously) pop up. The window will like the (computer-sketched) screenshot below:
Commands (yay!)
